Suffering from Chronic pain or Neck pain? Invasive surgery is when there is a break in the skin during the procedure performed. MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging requires no breaks and unlike CT scans or X-rays, an MRI do not use ionizing radiation. Therefore an MRI is harmless to a patient, however the feeling of claustrophobia can be unpleasant to some. Open MRI is a solution and can provide a degree of comfort since the procedure can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

Joint disruption, muscular tightness(shoulder pain),herniated discs or pinched nerves are all symptoms of Neck Pain. A herniated disc, is a tear in the outer, fibrous ring of an intervertebral disc which allows the soft, central portion stick out beyond the damaged rings. This is a major cause of severe, Chronic Pain and is associated with spinal fractures and spinal deformity. Basically the disc is misaligned due to damage suffered to it. Neck pain (also called cervical pain) is a common ailment that may be caused by a number of disorders or diseases involving the neck.

The cause may be as simple as neck strain from prolonged positioning, or as serious as degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, a pinched nerve, or neck injury. Because a pinched nerve or herniated disc may affect neuromuscular activity, it is advised that you seek treatment immediately upon diagnosis. It is possible as well for neck pain to be caused by infection, such as from the throat, as this can cause swelling. Bone infection of the spine and menigitis can also affect the structures around the neck, causing pain. Muscle problems, such as fibromyalgia and polymyalgia rheumatica, also cause neck discomfort.

Your risk for acquiring neck pain is increased in contact sports, motor vehicle accidents, horse riding, and several other potentially injuring activities.  Continue reading

Neck pain is a common issue for many adults. The occurrence of neck pain is usually due to damages of the soft tissues like muscles and ligaments. The causes of neck pain differ from person to person. The pain may come from performing certain tasks at work or suffering an injury such as a herniated disc. Along with disorders and diseases, neck pain can also result from bad posture. One thing to acknowledge, however, is that not all neck pain is a reason to think about neck surgery. Sometimes the pain is not serious and will go away. On the other hand, constant neck pain — related to the cervical spine, accompanied by pain in the back, shoulder, arms, or other parts joint with the spine should be given importance.
